#21 Blue Jays Squeak Past #26 Swarthmore
BALTIMORE -- The Swarthmore men's tennis team swept the top four singles matches as the Garnet fell to 21st-ranked Johns Hopkins 5-4 Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Jays (9-2) are ranked just ahead of Swarthmore (1-8) in the Atlantic South region at No. 5 and collected a quick 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles' competition.
Senior Jon Reiss, ranked 10th in the Atlantic South region, got Swarthmore going by upending the No.4-ranked player, David Maldow of JHU, by a score of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Freshman Brian Nalitt took care of Larry Wei at No. 3, winning 6-4, 6-4 while classmate Willy Nolan breezed past Dan Myers at No. 4 by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Junior Jonathan Lo picked up a big victory at No. 2 singles, out-lasting Jon Vasoontara 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.
The Garnet (1-8) take the week off before resuming action by hosting No.9 Mary Washington on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m.
