Defending Champs Open Up Centennial With Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The 19th-ranked Swarthmore women's tennis team (3-2 overall, 1-0 CC) opened up its Centennial Conference season with an 8-1 win over visiting Bryn Mawr. 

The match was moved to the Michael Mullan Indoor Tennis Center due to unplayable courts on the Main Line.  The Garnet won their 31st consecutive Centennial match as Jennie Park '09, Rachel Wallwork '10, Waverly Lutz '07, Rebecca Committo '10, and Kearney Bangs '10 all were double-winners.

It was the first collegiate victory for Bangs, who took down Melissa Mansh 8-5 at No. 6 singles and team with Marissa Lee '09 to win at No. 3 doubles 8-2.

Swarthmore continues Centennial play this Saturday, March 24 when Gettysburg visits campus for a 1:00 p.m. match.
