Garnet Repeat as PA State Champions
READING, Pa. -- Kim Kramer '10 took home first place in both singles and doubles, leading Swarthmore to its second straight Pennsylvania State Badminton Championship.
Kramer teamed up with senior Candice Cherk to win the main doubles draw. In singles, both Kramer and Cherk advanced to the main draw finals, with Kramer coming out on top to wrap up an undefeated season in singles play.
Another all-Swarthmore final occurred in the C doubles draw, with first-years May Maani and Ali Xiang defeating junior Patricia Kelly and sophomore Heather Hightower.
Kramer teamed up with Young Lou of Boston University in the mixed doubles draw; the pair advanced to the semifinals.
The state title completes Swarthmore's regular season. Kramer and Cherk will make a trip to the 2007 National Collegiate Badminton Championships will be held at the University of California at Berkeley on March 24-25.
