Osborn Wins Twice as Garnet Fall to Profs
GLASSBORO, N.J. - Swarthmore freshman Casey Osborn won butterfly events and classmate Anne Miller, Andrew Frampton '08, and Andrew Koczo '07 picked up individual wins as both Garnet swim teams fell at Rowan University on Saturday afternoon.
The Rowan women (4-1) downed the Swarthmore women (4-2) 144-107 while the Prof men (3-2) defeated the Garnet men (4-2) 146-102.
Miller picked up the first win of the day for Swarthmore by touching the wall first in the 1000 freestyle (10:55.61) - the time is just .40 off her school record. Osborn continued to post impressive times in the butterfly events, leading Miller (second - 2:12.44) home in the 200 with a time of 2:11.43. She picked up a win in the 100 butterfly later in the meet, posting a top-ten time of 1:01.09.
Frampton swam to victory for the Garnet men in the 1000 freestyle, putting up a fast time of 10:11.68. Koczo also picked up a win for Swarthmore, taking top honors in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:03.14.
The Garnet are off for final examinations and travel to Puerto Rico on January 10, 2007 for the annual training trip. The women resume competition on Tuesday, January 23 at Bryn Mawr and both teams hit the pool together on Saturday, January 27th at Gettysburg.
