Swat Swimmers Roll to Sweep of Green Terror

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore swimmers won the first eleven events on their way to a sweep of McDaniel in the Centennial Conference opener for the Garnet on Saturday afternoon.  The Swarthmore women (2-0 overall, 1-0 CC) downed the Green Terror (1-1 overall, 1-1 CC) 117-95 while the Garnet men (2-0 overall, 1-0 CC) cruised by a score of 146-87.

Sarah Cotcamp '07 and Anne Miller '10 each brought in four winners for the Garnet women while Franny Zhang '08 and Allie Jordan '09 captured three events apiece - Swarthmore clinched the victory after Cotcamp (57.67) and Claire Shelden '10 (1:00.62) took the top two spots in the 100 yard freestyle.  The Garnet women swam the remaining events in exhibition.

The Swarthmore men also enjoyed success in the pool this afternoon -  sophomore Stephen Shymon was the first to touch in the 200 yard freestyle, the 200 yard backstroke, and the 200 yard medley while classmate Douglas Gilchrist-Scott took top honors in the 100 backstroke and swam the lead leg on the winning 200 medley relay.

The Garnet are off for a week until Centennial powerhouse Franklin & Marshall comes to Ware Pool for a 2:00 p.m. meet on Saturday, Nov. 11.
