SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College will have both its soccer teams participating in the Centennial Conference Soccer Championship Tournament this coming weekend at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.

The Garnet women's soccer team (13-3-1 overall, 7-3 CC) is making its first-ever appearance in the CC Championships after the best regular season in school history. The Swarthmore women broke school records for wins in a season and Centennial wins in head coach Todd Anckaitis' second season. Swarthmore earned the third seed in the CC Championships and will face second-seed Gettysburg (12-5-1 overall, 8-2 CC) on Friday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. on Homewood Field, located on the campus of Johns Hopkins. The Bullets handed Swarthmore its first loss of the season, withstanding a furious Garnet rally to win this season's match 3-2 in Gettysburg, Pa. (the Bullets hold a 16-2-1 series edge since 1988). The Swarthmore men's team (12-4-1 overall, 6-3 CC) wrapped up its third consecutive season with a double digit victory total by defeating rival Haverford 3-0 on Oct. 28. The Garnet are seeded third in the Centennial Championships, facing second-seed Franklin & Marshall (12-2-3 overall, 6-1-2 CC) on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The Diplomats narrowly defeated Swarthmore 1-0 on Oct. 1 at Clothier Field, scoring in the final 36 seconds - the Garnet hold the overall edge in the series (32-23-4) that began in 1926.
