#11 Blue Jays Defeat Swarthmore

BALTIMORE, Md. - 11th-ranked Johns Hopkins extended its shutout streak to eight games, keeping the Garnet men's soccer team off the board with a 2-0 Centennial victory Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Jays improve to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference while Swarthmore slips to 8-4-1 and 3-3 in the Centennial. 

The game was scoreless through the first 56 minutes when Blue Jays junior Mo Hamzeh notched his second goal of the season by banging the ball of the far right post.

Hopkins put up an insurance goal at 81:20 - Max Venker finished off freshman Nick Kosik's cross for his third score of the season.

Swarthmore freshman goalkeeper Zach Weimar made seven saves while Blue Jays counterpart Danny Coble posted his 10th shutout of the season.

Swarthmore resumes play on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when they host Alvernia in non-conference action at 7:00 p.m.
