Pioneers Issue Setback to Swarthmore

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener outside hitter Lauren Albright had a match-high 20 kills as the Pioneers (10-14) defeated Swarthmore 3-2 in non-conference volleyball action Thursday night.  The scores of the match were 24-30, 22-30, 30-23, 30-26, 15-10.

Junior middle blocker Karen Berk led Swarthmore (11-9) with 13 kills while adding four blocks.  Garnet outside hitter Erica George tallied 10 kills and while middle blocker Katherine Gold '08 collected a team-high five blocks. 

Freshman setter Kearney Bangs directed the offense with 39 assists, passing 600 helpers on the season.  Sophomore Jen Wang led the defense with 30 digs in her first start as the libero in 2006.

Swarthmore resumes Centennial action this Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1:00 p.m. when the defending conference champion Gettysburg Bullets visit Tarble Pavilion.
