Fifth-ranked Bears Escape Swarthmore With Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Ursinus senior Allison Doutt scored early in the second half to give the fifth-ranked Bears (11-2, 7-0 CC) a narrow 1-0 Centennial victory over Swarthmore at Clothier Field Tuesday night.

The game featured the top two defenses in the Centennial; Ursinus came into the evening allowing 1.39 goals against average while the Garnet were right behind with a 1.40 average.

Doutt tallied the lone score of the evening at 40:12 - the senior midfielder accepted a penalty corner push on the left side of the circle and out-raced the Garnet defenders to the front of the cage, unleashing a hard shot the found the back of the net.  

Swarthmore goalie Karen Lorang made a season-high 10 saves in the cage as the Garnet slipped to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial.

Swarthmore returns to action this Sat., Oct. 14 when the Garnet travel to McDaniel for a 1:00 p.m.Centennial Conference game.
