HAVERFORD, Pa. - Swarthmore freshman Nyika Corbet (pictured) led six Garnet women to top-50 finishes and senior Vernon Chaplin ran 20th at the Main Line Invitational on Haverford College Thursday afternoon.  The annual event featured runners from Villanova, Naval Academy, the College of New Jersey, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Widener.

Corbet made a strong kick at the end of the 5K course, passing a large group of runners to finish fifth out of 84 runners in a time of 18:10.  Sophomore Emily Stanley ran 13th in a time of 18:28, classmate Bess Ritter clipped in 23rd position, freshman Erin Ronhovde ran 27th in 19:30, and sophomore Kathy Feeney found 29th place.  The Swarthmore women kept coming as sophomore Faith Pampel came in 41st (19:50) and freshman Lauren DeLuca ran 49th (20:22).

Chaplin brought in the Swarthmore flag, posting a time of 20:30 over the four-mile loop against 118 competitors.  Teammates Jon Shoop '08 (21:02) and Ross Weller '08 (21:06) ran 40th and 43rd, respectively while sophomore Erik Saka finished 60th in a time of 21:28.

The Garnet point their efforts toward the next race, the Paul Short Invite on Sept. 29 at DeSales University.  The race is set to kick off at 3:15 p.m.
