Garnet Spook Owls
The Garnet women (5-3, 3-1 CC) came out on top against rival Bryn Mawr on Tuesday night, claiming all but three of the eleven events to win 122-70.
The meet opened with a 200 yard medley relay win, delivered by Lauren Ullrich '06, Janice Yeo '07, Patricia Funk '06, and Martyna Pospieszalska '06 (2:04.44).
Franny Zhang '08 followed the win with an amazing victory of her own. The only Swattie to swim the 1000 yard freestyle, she often lapped the other swimmers, and managed to tag the sensor an astonishing 20 seconds before her closest competitor (11:30.72). Zhang then went on to take the 100 yard butterfly (1:.03.96).
Once again, Jennie Lewis '08 swept her events, edging out Bryn Mawr's Beth Low (26.76) in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.70, and taking a decisive win in the 500 yard freestyle (5:33.35).
After contributing to a relay victory, Funk took the 200 yard IM (2:23.06) and Pospieszalska won the 100 yard freestyle. Sarah Cotcamp '07 prevailed in the 200 yard freestyle.
The Garnet women will host their last home meet this Saturday, January 28, against Gettysburg at Ware Pool. The Centennial match-up kicks off at 2:00 p.m.
