Freshmen Pull Wagon, Garnet Upend Ursinus
The Garnet (2-3, 2-1 CC) took down Ursinus Tuesday night 142-73 at Ware Pool, giving up a mere four events. Stephen Shymon '09, Andrew Frampton '08, Jason Horwitz '07, and John Heagy '08 each won an individual event, while Tom Kelleher '09 and Douglas Scott-Gilchrist '09 each won two events.
Swarthmore's Teams A and B came in first and second respectively during the 200 yard medley. Andrew Herrmann '08, Kaena Horowitz '06, Brian Roth '09, and Jonathan Augat '07 came in first (1:45.43) while Adam Morris '06, Andrew Koczo '07, Horwitz, and Scott-Gilchrist followed close behind (1:46.10).
Kelleher took the 1000 yard freestyle (11:05.22) easily, and then rolled to victory in the 200 yard backstroke (2:08.80).
Shymon remained a stroke ahead of his closet competitor, Ursinus' Andy Will, managing to take the 200 yard freestyle (1:53.86), tagging the sensor five seconds before Will. Frampton won the 200 yard butterfly next (2:08.92), and Horwitz followed with a win in the 50 yard freestyle (22.99), edging out Will.
Scott-Gilchrist took the 100 yard backstroke (58.94), the only one to finish the event under one minute. Scott-Gilchrist also won the 100 yard freestyle, while Heagy rolled to victory in the 500 yard freestyle (5:17.07).
The Garnet will next compete in the Franklin & Marshall Invite, Dec. 2-4 in Lancaster, Pa.
