Tocchet Nets Another, Devils Down Garnet
Sophomore forward Danielle Tocchet netted her team-high sixth goal of the season as Swarthmore fell 5-1 to Dickinson in wet Carlisle, Pa. on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils (11-1-3, 7-0-1 CC) took a 1-0 lead at the start of the game when a Swarthmore defender accidentally headed the ball into the Garnet goal at 1:38. Dickinson scored three more times to take a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Tocchet ruined the shutout bid with a score at 48:26. The goal was only the third score allowed by the Red Devils in Centennial Conference play this season. Dickinson is ranked 18th in all of Division III in team goals-against average (.439), having allowed only six goals as of Oct. 16.
Tocchet now ranks third in the conference with four goals in Centennial play.
Swarthmore goalkeeper Lauren Walker '09 made 19 saves, including a handful of acrobatic stops, as the Garnet fell to 2-10-3 overall and 0-6-2 in the Centennial.
The re-scheduled Cabrini game, set for Monday evening, has been cancelled, so Swarthmore's next contest will take place on Thursday, October 27. The Garnet will host Bryn Mawr at 6:30 p.m. and will honor the 2006 senior class at halftime.
