Gwynedd Shows No Mercy, Downs Swarthmore 2-1
Gwynedd-Mercy grabbed a two-goal lead and withstood a Garnet rally to win 2-1 in Gwynedd Valley, Pa. on Thursday afternoon.
Swarthmore midfielder Summer Spicer '07 scored her 10th goal of the season, a career-high, off a penalty stroke. Spicer's score, with only 2:46 left in regulation, gave the Garnet a chance but the Griffins' lead held up, improving its record to 7-9 overall.
Melissa LaVan '07 made nine saves in goal as Swarthmore slipped to 6-7 overall.
The Garnet resume Centennial Conference action on Saturday, October 22 when it hosts Muhlenberg at 1:00 p.m. on Clothier Field.
