Swarthmore Turns in Third at Seven Sisters
Freshman Emma Stanley and senior Carrie Ritter made All-Seven Sisters as the Garnet earned third as a team on the campus of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Stanley finished in sixth out of 105 runners, completing the course in a time of 20:05.2. Ritter, in her first race of 2005, was tenth in a time of 20:13.2.
Senior Debbie Farrelly finished 16th (20:39.4), followed in by Lauren Fety '06 in 18th (20:42).
A pack of Garnet runners finished 31st-33rd to complete the scoring. Kavita Hardy '08 (21:29.4), Bess Ritter '09 (21.29.6), and Emily Wistar '06 (21:30.6) crossed the finish line together to give Swarthmore a team total of 81.
Stanley and Ritter were selected All-Seven Sisters for finishing in the top ten.
Wellesley was the winner for the fourth straight year with 35 points and Smith was second with 74 points.
Swarthmore will compete in the Centennial Conference Championships in its next race. The Garnet will travel to Baltimore, Md. on Saturday, October 29 for the 11:00 a.m. race.
