Hopkins Cracks Past Garnet 3-1
Summer Spicer '07 racked up her ninth goal of the season in the first half, yet the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins (5-5, 2-1 CC) scored twice in the second half to win 3-1 over Swarthmore on a muggy Tuesday evening in Baltimore, Md.
Swarthmore got seven straight corners late in the first half, and senior Charlotte MacAusland set up Spicer to tie the contest 1-1 at the intermission.
The Blue Jays controlled the second half, out shooting the Garnet 6-0. Johns Hopkins scored the eventual game winner in the 47th minute and added the insurance goal off a penalty stroke later in the half.
Karen Lorang '07 made three saves in goal as the Garnet fell to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in Centennial action.
The Garnet resume Centennial play on Saturday, October 8 when they host Washington (Md.) in a 1:00 p.m. match. The annual Swarthmore alumnae match will follow the varsity match, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
