Garnet Roll on Faculty/Staff Night
Swarthmore got nine kills apiece from outside hitters Jennifer Wang '09 and Erica George '07, defeating Bryn Mawr 3-0 on Tuesday evening on Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night in Tarble Pavilion.
Over 85 enthusiastic members of the Swarthmore community turned out to cheer on the Garnet, and the women did not disappoint. Swarthmore took game one by a score of 30-23, and then put together 17 kills as a team to win the second game, 30-21.
The Garnet (8-4, 2-1 CC) took a ten-minute intermission to personally thank the faculty and staff who came out in support, and then rolled in the third game, 30-20, to win their second consecutive Conference match.
Senior tri-captain Patrice Berry had a team-high 15 digs, followed closely by George, who had 11 digs. George passed the 1,000-career digs mark during the match, and now has 1,007 in 2 1/2 seasons.
Tri-captain Emily Conlon paced the offense with 30 assists and had 10 digs herself.
The Garnet travel to Carlisle, Pa. for their next match, squaring off with Dickinson at 12:00 p.m. on October 1.
