Swat Rallies Past Diplomats

Sara Sargent '07 rallied from a set down and an injury to pull out a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles and lead the Garnet (10-5, 8-0) to a come from behind, 5-4 Centennial Conference (CC) victory over visiting Franklin & Marshall (10-3, 6-2) at Faulkner Courts. Swarthmore extends its CC win streak to 17 in a row.

The Dips jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of the doubles matches. Barbara Bee and Katie Gaskins teamed up for an 8-6 victory over Sonya Reynolds '07 and Marissa Matthews '07 at No. 1 and Lizzy Denenberg and Jenna Ishkanian posted an 8-3 win over Emily Townsend '07 & Waverly Lutz '07 at No. 2. Marie Papalia and Beth Conner recorded an 8-6 win over Jenna Adelberg '06 and Sargent at No. 3 to complete the sweep.

The Garnet turned it around with strong singles play as Reynolds defeated Gaskins, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, Elli Suzuki '06 blanked Papalia, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and Townsend posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over Conner at No. 4 to tie up the match at 3-3.

Sonia Vallabh '06 defeated Christina Henkel 6-3, 6-4 to give the Garnet a 4-3 lead with two matches to play. Denenberg then defeated Lukoski 7-6 (3), 7-5 at No. 5 to tie the match, setting the stage for Sargent to come to the rescue much like the Muhlenberg match.

The Garnet travel to Dickinson on Saturday for a 1 p.m. CC match. Results
