Forbes Has Field Day

Senior forward Ele Forbes scored a career-high five goals and Lindsay Roth '07 added four to lead the Garnet (7-3, 2-2) to a 16-4 Centennial Conference victory at Bryn Mawr (3-7, 0-4) this afternoon.

Zoe Fuller-Young gave the Owls a 1-0 lead 2:06 into the game. The lead lasted just 50 seconds, as Katie Crawford '07 scored the first of two goals and the Garnet scored the next five goals to build a 6-1 lead.

Roth scored unassisted at 25:52 and Crawford hit the back of the net at 24:07 to make it 3-1. Forbes picked up her first goal at 22:44 and Niamh Shortt '07 made it a 5-1 contest with 21:46 remaining in the half. Forbes scored just 1:09 later on a free position shot. Millie Bond stopped the bleeding scoring an unassisted goal at 18:00 to cut the lead to 6-2.

The Garnet added three more goals before the half to run the lead to 9-2 as Megan Sanborn '08, Heidi Fieslemann '06 and Elizabeth Richey '07 each scored. Courtney Black added goal for the Owls with 3:24 left in the half and the Garnet took a commanding 9-3 advantage into intermission.

The Garnet went right back to work in the second half scoring the first seven goals of the period. Forbes and Roth each scored three more times and Fieslemann recorded her second of the game with 10:20 remaining to make it a 16-3 contest. Moriah Scott closed out the scoring for the Owls with 3:36 remaining.

Swarthmore held a 49-18 shot advantage in the game Susannah Blair '08 made seven saves for the Garnet in goal while Sarah Simons made 15 stops for the Owls.

Saturday, Swarthmore travels to Muhlenberg for a 1 p.m. Centennial Conference contest.
