Pacers Pull Off Sweep
Matt Faber singled home Christopher Ritchie in the top of the sixth inning to give Marywood a 4-3 win over Swarthmore in the first game, while the Pacers cracked 14 hits off Garnet pitching in the second game to sweep a rain-filled doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at chilly Clothier Fields.
The Pacers (5-7) scored early against Swarthmore hurler Justin Chen '08, scratching out a run in the second for a 1-0 lead.
The Garnet answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Travis Allen '08 doubled, Ian Adelstein '07 and Scott Young '08 hit consecutive singles, Noah Cooper-Harris '07 followed with an RBI double, and Sam Faeder '07 drove in the third run with a sacrifice fly.

Chen took the loss for Swarthmore (2-7), allowing four runs on five hits while striking out three.
The Pacers jumped all over the Garnet in the second game, getting 11 runs and 14 hits off four different Swarthmore pitchers. Their big inning came in the top of the fifth when a bases-loaded double by Mike Piercy led to a five-run inning, pushing the Marywood lead to 11-0.
Swarthmore refused to roll over, taking advantage of some sloppy defense by the Pacers, as Adelstein, Andrew Bender '08, and Scott Dalane '08 scored to cut the deficit to 11-3.
Bill Hall got the win for Marywood, combining with Ralph Protano to limit the Garnet to five hits, striking out three and walking three.
Scott Young and Dalane had two hits apiece for Swarthmore, while Alex Ryan-Bond was tagged with the loss.
The Garnet travel south on Rt. 320 for their next contest, visiting Widener on Saturday, March 26th for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
