Garnet Maintain 3rd Place After Day 2 Lewis, 800 Free Relay Earn Silver

Jennie Lewis '08 continued her strong Championship performance with a silver medal in the 100 butterfly and 800 free relay to keep the Garnet in third place after Day two of the Centennial Conference Swim Championships.

Lewis captured two silver medals on the day to bring her count to four medals on the weekend. She placed second in the 100 butterfly in 59.69 and swam the first leg of the 800 free relay with Franny Zhang '08, Melanie Johncilla '05 and Whitney Nekoba '08 that finished in an NCAA "B Cut" time of 7:55.82.

The 200 medley relay team of Martyna Pospieszalska '06, Michele Hom '07, Kathryn Jantz '05 and Sarah Cotcamp '07 finished in fourth in 1:53.29 and Pospieszalska placed fifth in the 100 back in 1:02.44.

Katherine Reid '05 placed sixth in the 400 IM in 4:50.04, Veronica Medina '07 finished in eight place in the 100 butterfly (1:03.25) and Hom swam eighth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.48. Nekoba earned a sixth place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.17.

The Garnet with 410.5 points trail only Franklin & Marshall 483 and Gettysburg 472.5.

The final day of action gets underway tomorrow with trials at 10:30 and finals at 6:30.
