Garnet Pick Up Win Over Bryn Athyn
The Garnet picked up a 4-1 PAIAW victory over a shorthanded Bryn Athyn on Monday night at Tarble Pavilion.
Lacking the required number of women on its squad, Bryn Athyn had to forfeit four of five matches to the Garnet.
After the match had been decided the squads faced off in mixed singles and doubles exhibition matches. In singles action, Jess Larson '06 defeated Justin Rose 11-4, 11-1 and Abe Howland knocked off Shalako Umbach 15-6, 15-7.
In doubles, Candice Cherk '07 and Katie Crawford '07 fell to Malcom Smith and Ryan Rose 15-11, 15-3 and Mu Yang '07 and Maisha Howard '08 dropped a 15-4, 15-4 decision to Glen Garner and Sonia Samvers.
In the only match that counted towards the score, Lindsay Roth and Patricia Kelly fell to Amanda Rose and Jen Longstaff 15-10, 15-8.
Howland and Kannie Chim '07 dropped a doubles decision to Smith and Ryan Rose 15-11, 15-10 to close out the evening.
The Garnet travel to Albright on Thursday at 7 p.m.
