Lucky 13s Roll at Seven Sisters

Ali Wolff '05, Radiance Walters '06, and Laura Popovics '08 all scored 13 points as Swarthmore broke out in the second half to defeat St. Joseph's College (CT) 65-39 at the annual Seven Sisters Tournament in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

St. Joseph's grabbed an early 10-2 lead in the first half, led by Edna Cammano's hot shooting. The Garnet clawed their way back to tie the contest 28-28 at the intermission.

Swarthmore poured it on in the second half, launching a 20-2 run to build a commanding 48-30 lead with 11:18 remaining. Popovics accounted for the last eight points of that run, courtesy of a twisting lay up and two long-distance three pointers.

The Garnet shot 43% from the floor in the second half, including six of twelve from three point range, to improve their record to 3-2 overall.

Walters recorded her third double-double of the season by corralling 14 rebounds to go with her 13 points. Debra Farrelly '06 added nine points on three for four shooting from three point land, while Kristen Lee '05 chipped in seven points.

Cammano led the Blue Jays with 13 points and six rebounds, while Maureen Christ added eight points for the Blue Jays.

Swarthmore will face Vassar College, a 48-43 winner over Smith, at 4:00 p.m. in semi-final action of the Seven Sisters Tournament on the campus of Bryn Mawr College.
