ITS Welcomes new Media Center Coordinator Tayarisha Poe

Academic Technology is pleased to welcome new Media Center Coordinator and recent Swarthmore College graduate Tayarisha Poe ’12 to the Information Technology Services team. Tayarisha brings a wealth of knowledge about video production, digital photography, printing and the Adobe CS suite along with her lively and welcoming personality to the Media Center.  She has particular interests in multimedia storytelling, digital cinematography and DSLR video production, and we look forward to a series of instructional workshops she’ll be hosting through the academic year on these and other media related topics. Results from the First ITS “FedEx/Innovation Time Off” Day

Google is famous for the “Innovation Time Off” program in which employees are encouraged to spend 20% of their time working on projects that interest them. Software developer Atlassian created “FedEx Days” as a “hack day, a one-day creative burst of brainstorming, prototyping and presenting” where employees work on potential enhancements to its products. 1/16 – Meeting Maker Upgrade 8.7.1

On Friday, January 16, 2009 Meeting Maker will be unavailable from approximately 5:00 AM until 9:00 AM for an upgrade. After the Meeting Maker server is upgraded, the client software that you use to access it will also need to be upgraded. For Windows users, this process will be initiated automatically when you attempt to log once the server is back online. Macintosh users can proceed with upgrading their clients manually. Google Chrome – a nice complement for browsing

ITS tested Google Chrome on several of our swat online services, and found that many swat services function properly. Chrome is packed with many features that are easy to use including navigation and search history. If you are interested in road testing Google Chrome, feel free to download it; but keep in mind, Chrome is still in beta, and is not as mature as your current College supported browsers (Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox).
