ITS cautions against upgrading to macOS Sierra

Apple has just released its newest macOS Sierra operating system, and made it available as an automatic download to customers running OS X El Capitan in order to encourage them to update. If you have a Swarthmore issued computer, do not allow Sierra to install. Upgrading the operating system can break certain features, including the ability to log in with your Swarthmore account. We recently heard from one of the nearly 700 of you who are already using lynda.swarthmore.edu to help you learn on your own schedule.  Brady White ’15 has been using Lynda.com videos to help learn how to use SolidWorks 2014, a program that allows you to design objects to be printed on a 3D printer. ITS welcomes Oliver Hollocher-Small to the Client Services team

The Client Services team belatedly welcomes Oliver Hollocher-Small to the team!  Oliver joined us on July 29 and brought along a jack-of-all-trades set of troubleshooting abilities to complement his contagious smile (not pictured). Price ’00 returned to Swarthmore to join the Client Services team in ITS as the Technology Education Coordinator.  He looks forward to helping people use technology in a way that helps them do their work better.
