2014 Blended Learning in the Liberal Arts Conference (hosted by Bryn Mawr College)

Bryn Mawr College announced that the third annual Blended Learning in the Liberal Arts Conference will be held on 21-22 May 2014. Advance registration by May 15 is required. Registration is free for Swarthmore College faculty and staff. This conference is part of the college’s Blended Learning in the Liberal Arts Initiative, funded by Next Generation Learning Challenges and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. It is designed as a forum for college faculty and staff to share resources, experiences, and findings related to blended learning. For the past two summers, ITS & the Libraries have been creating academic web and digital media projects through a program called Swarthmore Projects for Educational Exploration and Development (SPEED). Because the needs of these projects will vary, the SPEED intern will have the opportunity to explore many aspects of the work done within the Academic Technology & Libraries. SPEED interns will be deeply involved in projects from start to finish, with the expectation that they will contribute substantially to the successful completion of projects. Gaming Extravaganza – December 11th in Kohlberg 326 (LRC)

New Coordinator for the Beardsley Media Center Arrives

Q: What do Antarctica, Brazil, and the Beardsley Media Center have in common? A: They’re all places that Jeremy Polk has worked. Jeremy Polk joined ITS last week in the role of Media Center Coordinator. Jeremy previously worked as a media producer at the National Science Foundation, where he specialized in documentary filmmaking and media technology support. In 2010-11, he directed and produced three short documentary videos in Antarctica for the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) Ice Core Project, for which he was awarded the Antarctica Service Medal of the United States of America.
