Introduction to Moodle Class

ITS will be holding two “Introduction to Moodle” training sessions to help new users transition from Blackboard to our new learning management system. In the first half of the class, we will cover logging in, navigation, and adding materials and online assignments to courses. During the second half, participants will have to time to work on their course or explore additional features in Moodle. Trico to transition from Blackboard to Moodle

As you may be aware, the Tri-Colleges have been conducting a major product review of our Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard, and a popular alternative, called Moodle. Blackboard is the dominant commercial software company in higher education. Moodle is free, open source software that has been adopted by many institutions of higher education, including most liberal arts colleges. Blackboard Content Manager

ITS has recently updated the Blackboard course management system to include the Blackboard Content Manager. Similar to Swatfiles but for course related materials, the Content Manager allows faculty and staff to store material online for use in their courses. Some uses for the Blackboard Content Manager: Group file exchange: a course folder can be set up to allow all members of the course to add or modify files. File Sharing: Permissions on files can be set to any user or group of users within Blackboard. Blackboard Upgrade and Training in August

This summer, we will upgrade our Tri-College Blackboard Learning Management System to the latest version, and offer several workshops on old and new features. If you have immediate questions about Blackboard, please contact any member of our ITS/Library Support Team. In order to carry out the upgrade, Blackboard will be off line for a few hours. Blackboard – end of semester reminders

Here are some important tips for managing course availability, preserving seniors’ data and more. Note that a maintenance outage is planned for August. Graduating seniors will lose Blackboard access — back up now to preserve student data! Students lose their Blackboard account during the summer (mid-June) after they graduate.  Not only will they be unable to log in, uploaded files (assignments) and grades will be permanently deleted from their Bb past courses and organizations.  ITS saves an archive of all Bb sites each semester, but we may not capture every site at the right moment to guarantee recovery of individual … Continue reading Blackboard – end of semester reminders
