ECONOMY

The city of Chester has had a difficult history. A downward economic spiral since its climax after World War II has left the city among the poorest in America. However, there is a bright spot: the future.

Over the past decade, more than $1 billion has been invested in Chester’s communities, including houses, parks and schools, and in business ventures. Many organizations within and beyond Chester are committed to rebuilding the community, one project at a time.

Many active projects are in place, each currently aiding a specific part of Chester. The Chester Housing Authority, or CHA, has helped develop housing developments. The Keystone programs have helped many small and large business ventures revitalize parts of Chester. Every day, there are new economic initiatives, and progress to be made on existing ones.
