Last year ITS developed and implemented the File Scan block in Moodle to help identify inaccessible PDF files. This year, we are working on improvements to the block that will allow instructors to automatically fix PDF files that are not accessible.

We’re currently attending a Moodle event as part of the Collaborative Liberal Arts Moodle Project where we are sharing the code with other schools and getting feedback on how to best implement the improvements.  Several other colleges have installed the File Scan block on their Moodle sites and are actively using it.  We hope to have the improvements ready some time in the spring semester.
