This special event celebrates the challenging life and career of Joan Myers Brown, the founder of the Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) and the Philadelphia School of Dance Arts, on their 40th Anniversary. Across the nation and around the world, PHILADANCO is celebrated for its innovation, creativity and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance.

Joan Myers Brown’s talk will follow the screening of her autobiographical film, Standing at the Edge: We Dance.
