Media Services Has New Chromebooks for Student Checkout!

Chromebook laptopMedia Services has new Chromebooks for students to checkout! They now have a limited number of Chromebooks designated for student use on a short term basis. This may be really helpful for someone whose laptop is under repair or needs a laptop on the fly.

Instead of Windows 10 or Mac OS X, Chromebooks run Google’s Chrome OS, Google’s operating system. While Chromebooks do not have the Microsoft Office Suite and other software, they are mostly great for accessing the Internet and creating documents through Google Drive using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. They also have two USB drives and an SD card slot as well as an HDMI to connect to a display.

Traditionally students were not allowed to borrow laptops but now Chromebooks specifically are available for them to check out. If during finals you find that one of your students needs access to a Chromebook for short term loan, please contact Media Services at avbox@swarthmore.edu or X-6201. If you need help getting started with using Google Docs please let us know by contacting help@swarthmore.edu.
