Shop Sabre CNC

CNC has landed in the Makerspace!

A hearty Swat welcome to the newest, chonkiest member of our Makerspace Machine Family, the ShopSabre CNC Router.

What is a CNC? Well, Computer Numerical Control refers to any number of machines that operates by digital instructions, rather than by manual effort. Other familiar CNC devices are 3D printers and Laser Cutters. In our kind of workshop, CNC is usually shorthand for a multi-axis Router, or cutter.

This tool is capable of taking your intricate 3D designs and recreating them in physical material! You can cut complex shapes in plywood, create 3D sculptures out of foam or wood, make true-to-life scale models of real-world terrains and landscapes. And not only is it precise, it is big. Our CNC can handle material up to four by eight feet broad, and twelve inches thick (good luck carrying something this big…)!

Stay tuned as we get it fully landed and launched over the Spring, with feature projects and workshops to help show the community what we can do with it!
