MakerSpace – Workshop Series

Wednesday Evenings

5:30 – 7:30 pm

Unless otherwise indicated, workshops will take place in the MakerSpace, Beardsley 101/102.  Registration is  limited, sign up forms will be posted 1 week before the event.

March 21st
Student Open House

An informal event where students can come to see the various machines and capabilities of the MakerSpace. The MakerSpace is open to all students in all departments with machines such as 3D printers, Laser System and a woodshop. Meet the student technicians, manager, ask questions and learn about what is available to you.

March 28th
Tools 101

Tools 101 is designed to train and certify people on the various woodshop machines and tools. Once completed you can use the space during open hours, staffed by the MakerSpace Student Technicians and Manager.

April 4th
Getting Started with Arduino

Make lights flash, buzzers buzz, and motors spin in this hands-on introduction to the Arduino hardware and software kit. No previous electronics or programming experience necessary. (Space is limited – please sign up!)

April 11th
Welding 101 
(Whittier Place)

An introductory workshop explaining the basics of welding and welding safety. Learn about the various equipment and facilities needed for welding. (Space is VERY limited – please sign up!)

April 18th
Tools 101

Tools 101 is designed to train and certify people on the various woodshop machines and tools. Once completed you can use the space during its open hours, which are held by the MakerSpace Student Technicians or the manager.

April 25th
Forging Demo (Whittier Place)

Learn the basics of forging steel with a homemade gas forge created by ENG student Brandon Zunin.

May 2nd
Sewing/Wearable

Learn the basics of operating a sewing machine and running fundamental stitches.

May 9th
Laser Cutting and the assembled object

This laser cutting workshop focus on vector cutting to accurately create shapes that can then be assembled into more complex forms.
