Adobe Introduces AI Video Editing

Industries across the board are making use of Artificial Intelligence. The media production business is no exception, and Adobe has recently introduced a number of new AI tools with its latest suite of updates. Of particular interest are those available for filmmakers and content creators who use Adobe Premiere.

Different from generative AI platforms like Midjourney and Dall-E, the Adobe tools discussed at the link above do not actually create novel content. Rather, they dramatically decrease the amount of time required to perform core video editing tasks. How dramatically? Elements of video editing that might take days or weeks to complete manually can now be completed in seconds or minutes. That leaves more time for dreaming up stories and making creative decisions in the edit.

If you’re interested in learning more, the libraries, ITS, and FMST will be hosting an in-depth presentation about these technologies on April 4th from 1-5pm in the McCabe LibLab.

And in case you’re wondering, Adobe does offer some generative AI tools in Photoshop and AfterEffects using its Firefly product. Those AI tools are not directly integrated with Premiere just yet.
