Garnet Men Jump to 17th in Division III

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore men's soccer team jumped up to No. 17 in the most recent NSCAA/adidas Division III national rankings released Tuesday morning.

The Garnet (12-2-1, 6-1 CC) won both matches this past week to move into first place in the Centennial Conference standings, holding 18 points to inch ahead of second-place Johns Hopkins (17 points).  Swarthmore is currently listed third in the Middle Atlantic region behind ninth-ranked Messiah (11-2-2) and the aforementioned #10 Blue Jays (11-2-3).

Swarthmore earned a 3-1 non-conference win over Immaculata on Wednesday night and extended their current win streak to seven matches with a rain-shortened 4-0 win over McDaniel on Saturday.

The 2008 regular season will come to a close this week as the Garnet travel to Muhlenberg (ranked sixth in the region) on Wednesday, Oct. 29th and then host Haverford on Saturday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.
