Mullarkey Wins 5,000

CHESTER, Pa. -- The Swarthmore track and field teams traveled to near by Widener University for the annual two-day Danny Curran Invite on Friday and Saturday this weekend.

Junior Cait Mullarkey (Wilmington, Del. / Ursuline) ran an 18:35.72 race-time to win the 5,000-meter, with her time Mullarkey enters the School’s top ten list in eighth place. Emma Stanley ’09 (Fogelsville, Pa. / Parkland) finished close behind Mullarkey in third place with a time of 19:00.84. Faith Pampel ’09 (Little Silver, N.J. / Red Bank Regional) finished ninth posting a 19:43.25 time and Rebecca Woo ’11 (Davis, Ca. / Davis Senior) was the eleventh runner to cross the finish line at 20:19.76. All four runners met the 20:48.47 Centennial Conference qualifying time.

Lauren Deluca ’10 (Audubon, Pa. / Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic) and Caitlin Russell ’11 (Mountain View, Calif. / Los Altos) both qualified for the Conference Championships with times of 5:15.45 and 5:18.05 respectively in the 1,500 meter run. 

In the men’s 100-meter dash Tramane Hall and Heo Yonhjun finished in the top 30 marking Centennial qualifying times of 12.05 and 12.24 respectively.

Garnet harrier Connor Darby ’09 (Nashville, Tenn. / MLK Academic Magnet) marked a 4:16.50 finish-time to qualify for Championships in the 1,500 meter run. 

Senior Mickey Katz ’08 (Stevens Point, Wis. / Stevens Point Area) finished 16th in the men’s 5,000 meter run with a qualifying time of 16:14.40.

Running a 1:04.61 Centennial qualifying time for the 400 meter hurdles was Chris Mayer-Bacon ’11 (Wenonah, N.J / Gateway Regional). 

The track team will be back in action next Saturday, April 5 when they travel to Richard Stockton to compete in the Osprey Open.
