Garnet Take Down Green Terror

WESTMINSTER, Mary. - Swarthmore men's soccer (10-2-3, 4-2-1 CC) won 2-1 with five second left in first over time during Centennial Conference match against McDaniel (7-5-4, 1-4-2 CC) on Saturday
afternoon.

Striking first was McDaniel junior Donzell Tate (Silver Spring, Md./ St. Johns Catholic) who received a cross from senior Peter Gaitens (Toms River, N.J./ Toms River South) at 17:17. The first half ended with the Green Terror leading 1-0.

Tying the game 1-1 at 64:47 was Evan Nesterak '09 (Parker, Colo./ Ponderosa) who received a ball from Jeff Kushner '09 (Norristown, Pa./ Methacton) during a Garnet corner kick. Regulation time ended with a tying score of 1-1, which sent the game into over-time.

With five second left on the clock during the first over-time period Michael Bonesteel '08 (Clifton Park, N.Y./ LaSalle Institute) sent in a cross from the left to Nesterak who drilled a one-touch into the back right corner for a Garnet 2-1 overt-time win.

Garnet senior goalkeeper Ryan Sutcliffe (Milford, Del./ Milford) posted 4 saves while Green Terror senior goalie Christian Maisel (Eldersburg, Md./ Boys Latin School of Maryland) had eight saves.

Men's soccer returns home to Clothier Field for their senior day game against Centennial Conference Muhlenberg on Wednesday Oct. 24 at 7:00.
