Garnet Fall to Bullets
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Gettysburg field hockey team beat Swarthmore 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.
First half action started early when Gettysburg senior Cristi Farrell (Dunkirk, Md./The Calverton School) scored her sixth goal of the season at 1:12 off junior Savannah Ruth's (New Oxford, Pa./ New Oxford) deflection.
Quickly following at 1:38 junior Nikki Dyer (Kildeer, Illi./ Stevenson) notched her third goal of the season, credited assist went to sophomore Molly Latta (West Chester, Pa./ Henderson). Ruth took advantage of a pass off a defender to beat Garnet goalie Katie Ashmore '11 (Princeton, N.J./ Princeton); extending the Bullet lead 3-0. Scoring her first goal of the game at 21:37 was sophomore Nina Emala (Baltimore, Md./ Bryn Mawr).
Emala then marked her sixth goal of the season at 50:36 off a pass from sophomore Lauren Woodman (Denver, Colo./ Kent Denver). Finding her way through traffic Woodman scored at 54:15 to make the final score 6-0 for the Bullets.
The Garnet will take on Haverford Wednesday Oct. 24th with a 4:00 game on the Main Line.
