Oh, Heidi! Garnet Split at 7 Sisters

Junior midfielder Heidi Fieselmann scored four times to lead Swarthmore to a 12-0 victory over Elms College in the opening round of the annual Seven Sisters Tournament on Saturday morning.

The Garnet, playing on the campus of Bryn Mawr College, fell 8-6 to rival Haverford College in their afternoon contest, earning a spot in the third-place game on Sunday.

Tri-captain Megan Speare '05 notched her second hat trick of the season against Elms, while leading-scorer Lindsay Roth '07 added a pair of goals.

Tri-captain Ele Forbes '05 tallied a pair of goals of her own, including the first goal for the Garnet (3-2), finishing off a pass from Niamh Shortt '06 at 6:24 mark in the first half. The Garnet swooped to a 9-0 halftime advantage, and never looked back on the way to their third win of the season.

Susannah Blair '08 (one save) and Emily Lowing (three saves) split duties in goal for the Garnet.

Swarthmore fell in their afternoon contest vs. Haverford, getting two goals from Roth and scores from Speare, Katie Crawford '07, Rachel Jordan '08, and Megan Sanborn '08.

Blair made twelve saves in goal as the Garnet fell to 3-2 overall.

The Garnet will meet Wellesley in the third place game tomorrow.
