HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Swarthmore College volleyball team fell just short in its quest to capture three tournament championships in three weekends, as the Garnet (10-3) dropped a pair of games on Saturday afternoon in the final day of the Stevens Duck Classic, losing to FDU-Florham 3-0 ( 22-25, 23-25, 19-25 ) and host Stevens 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 19-25, 18-25).
The losses snap the Garnet’s eight-match winning streak.

The victories extend the Garnet’s winning streak to eight matches, as the squad continues the program’s best start in 35 seasons.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior captain Sarah Lambert won tournament MVP with 14 aces and 45 assists, as the Swarthmore College volleyball team (8-1) defeated Wesley 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-18) and Cabrini 3-2 (23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-9) to win its second consecutive Garnet Classic on Saturday afternoon from Tarble Pavilion.
The Classic championship marks the first time the host Garnet have won the in consecutive years. The four weekend wins also extends the Garnet’s winning streak to five matches, as the squad continues to have the program’s best start in 35 years.
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore Kathryn Montemurro dominated up front with 19 kills and five service aces while freshman Danielle Sullivan recorded 25 digs in two games to lead the Swarthmore Volleyball team (6-1) over Albright College (1-5) and Marymount University (1-5). The Garnet make quick work of its opponents on Friday night, winning each match 3-0 to stay perfect on day one of the Garnet Classic in Tarble Pavilion.
With the victories Swarthmore is off to its best start since 1975 when the Garnet went 8-0 to start the season.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Genny Pezzola had 16 kills to lead the Swarthmore College volleyball team (4-1) to a convincing 3-0 win over the Widener Pride (1-4) in Swat’s home opener on Tuesday night from Tarble Pavilion.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a tough 3-2 loss to Richard Stockton (3-1) to open championship bracket play Saturday morning, the Swarthmore Volleyball team (3-1) rebounded to take down host Moravian (3-1) in a four set battle, The 3-1 victory earned the Garnet its first Greyhound Classic championship.
Junior Lisa Shang was named the tournament’s most valuable player while junior Genny Pezzola was named to the all-tournament team.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Swarthmore College volleyball team wasted no time getting off to a fast start in 2010, as the Garnet earned 3-0 victories against Wilkes and Alvernia during the opening day of the Moravian Greyhound Premiere on Friday evening.
With the victories, the Garnet (2-0) move to the Championships bracket and will face Richard Stockton (12:00) and host Moravian (2:00) tomorrow afternoon).
