Montemurro Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week
LANCASTER, Pa. - Sophomore Kat Montemurro of the Swarthmore College volleyball team has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the week ending September 14, the conference announced this afternoon.
Montemurro was named to the All-Tournament Team in the Garnet Classic this weekend, leading her team to its second straight tournament championship title. She had 28 kills and 23 digs in the Garnet's final two games of the tournament, finishing with five kills, five service aces and a team-high 12 digs during their dramatic comeback win against Cabrini. The Garnet finished 4-0 for the weekend and is off to its best start in 35 years at 8-1 overall.
Montemurro is the second consecutive member of the Garnet to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Week; junior Lisa Shang earned the honor last week.
The Garnet return to action this Friday with a match against Oneonta St. in the Stevens Duck Classic.
