Blue Jays Edge Garnet

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Johns Hopkins scored two goals in the first half to beat #11 Swarthmore 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference men's soccer action.

The defeat ends a 10-match unbeaten streak for Swarthmore (5-1-1, 0-1 CC).

The Garnet started the match with strong possession, completing crisp passes to each other. Unfortunately, Hopkins picked up two quick goals from sophomore Scott Bukoski (Sagamore, Mass. / Bourne) and freshman Drew Holland (Sudbury, Mass. / Belmont Hill School) to own the 2-0 lead at intermission.

Swarthmore fought back in the second half against the Blue Jays in the second half--both teams tallied seven shots.

Junior midfielder Dylan Langley (Honolulu, Hawaii / Iolani School) tried to jump start the Garnet offense in the second half, banging a shot off the post.  It would be Swarthmore’s closest opportunity of the half.

Swarthmore freshman David D’Annunzio (Piedmont, Calif. / Piedmont) played 90:00 minutes in goal, picking up three saves for the Garnet.

The Garnet return to Clothier Field to host non-conference opponent Arcadia for a 5:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday, September 24th.
