Wallwork Falls in First-Round

ST. PETER, Minn. -- Swarthmore sophomore Rachel Wallwork fell in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Individual Championships on Friday morning at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

In her first NCAA appearance Wallwork (Washington, D.C. / Georgetown Day) competed against Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio / Oakwood) of #3 Denison College. In the most recent ITA poll Wallwork was ranked #8 in the Atlantic South region while Cobb was ranked at #5 in the Central region.

Going into the match Cobb was 18-3 for the season while Wallwork had posted an overall record of 17-3. On Friday Cobb took down Wallwork with scores of 6-0 and 6-4.

Wallwork wraps up her sophomore campaign as the Centennial Conference Player of the Year while posting a 17-4 overall record.
