Garnet Pander to Youth, Fall To Raptors

CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Rutgers-Camden baseball team (8-24) celebrated Senior Day with a 7-0 win over Swarthmore (8-20) on Tuesday evening at Campbell's Field.

It was a scoreless inning until the seventh when the Scarlet Raptors scored four runs to take the lead. Rutgers-Camden extended their lead to 7-0 in the eighth when they scored an additional three runs.

Neil Mejia ’11 (Oak Park, Ill. / Oak Park River Forrest) started on the mound for the Garnet and pitched three innings. The freshman pitcher finished with seven strike outs, bringing his season total to 43. Freshman Andy Allen (1-4) (Manchester, Maine / St. Dominic) pitched 3.2 innings in relief picking up the loss for the Garnet while pushing his career total strike outs to 29 (season-best six for the day).

The Garnet travel to Dickinson for the Centennial finale, a doubleheader slated to start at 1:00 p.m. Swarthmore returns to the Clothier Fields on Sunday, April 27th to host Misericordia. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
