LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore College forward Karen Berk (Havertown, PA / Haverford) has been named to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Team, as voted on by the league's head coaches.  Berk is a second-team selection, making the All-CC team for the second straight year.

Berk, a junior, led the Centennial Conference in points per game (18.5), rebounds per game (12.5), free throws made (125), while ranking in the top ten in blocks per game (1.83), steals per game (2.08), free-throw percentage (71.8%) and field-goal percentage (42.5%).  Her rebounding average places her third in all of Division III and she is the first woman to top the Conference in scoring and rebounding since Swarthmore All-America forward Heather Kile '02 did it in 1998-99 and again in 1999-2000.

Berk led the Centennial Conference in scoring and rebounding in 2006-07.

Berk was named CC Co-Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points and 14.6 rebounds per game in two games for the Garnet during the week of Feb. 19-25.  She dropped in a season-high 30 points on 12 of 18 shooting from the floor, to go along with 11 rebounds vs. Washington on Feb. 15 and then tallied her Centennial-leading 18th double-double with a 23-point, 18-rebound effort at Haverford on Feb. 17.

On January 27, Berk became the sixth Swarthmore woman to score 1,000 career points, joining Heather Kile '02 (Centennial-record 1,965 points), Michele Fowler '86 (1,738), Katie Robinson '04 (1,682), Liz Clarke '90 (1,300) and Jen Truscott '88 (1,095).  In three seasons at Swarthmore, Berk has accumulated 1,137 points and 732 rebounds (fourth-most in school history).  She also set records for blocked shots in a season (50) and career blocks (96).

It is the second All-Centennial selection for Berk; she was named to the first team in 2005-06.

Swarthmore finished the 2006-07 season with an overall record of 4-20 and 1-17 in the Centennial.
