Swarthmore Frosh Runs Strong at National Meet

WILMINGTON, Oh. -- Swarthmore freshman Nyika Corbett ran the 6K in Wilmington College 24:21 to take 59th place overall at the 2006 NCAA Division III Women's Cross-Country championships.

Corbett placed third amongst Centennial Conference runners, behind only Caitlin Bradley of Dickinson (second overall) and Johns Hopkins's Laura Paulsen (52nd).  Paulsen, also a freshman, and Corbett look to be developing a high-level rivalry that has three more years to be played out.  Corbett was fourth among the first-year runners competing.

Sarah Zerzan of Willamette took first overall with a time of 22:31, and Middlebury nosed past Amherst by just one point to take the overall title.
