Garnet Freshmen Excel as Swat Falls to NYU

COMPLETE RESULTS

NEW YORK - Swarthmore freshman Casey Osborn swam to victory in both butterfly events and classmate Anne Miller captured the 1000 freestyle, as both Garnet swim squads suffered their first loss of the season at nationally-ranked NYU.  The women's margin was 160-95; the men's final was 150-102.  Both Garnet teams are now 3-1 on the season.

Miller rallied from behind to overtake NYU freshman Kacey McCaffrey in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:55.43. Osborn's first butterfly win came in the 200 (2:11.70), with Miller (2:12.88) finishing just behind in second place. Later, the first-year took the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.50.

NYU clinched both halves of the meet with several races left to go and the final eight events were swam as exhibitions.

The Garnet will look to rebound from their run-in with the Violet buzzsaw this coming Tuesday evening at Centennial Conference foe Ursinus at 6:30 p.m.
