Harriers Scamper at Paul Short



LEHIGH, Pa. - Swarthmore senior Vernon Chaplin (pictured) ran fourth out of almost 200 competitors at the 2006 Paul Short Open on Friday afternoon, leading the Garnet men to a seventh place finish.

Chaplin led a collection of Garnet runners, finishing in a time of 26:02.  Junior Jonathan Shoop was the next Swarthmore runner to cross, placing 21st with a time of 26:41.  Sophomore Erik Saka followed 20 seconds later in 41st while senior Nat Erb-Satullo was 71st in a time of 27:27.  Freshman Jonnie Tompkins posted a solid time of 27:45 for 85th position while classmate Andrew VanBuren finished in 124th with a time of 28:47.

The Garnet will train this next week for the Dickinson Long/Short Invite, set to be run on Sat., Oct. 7 at 11:00 a.m. in Carlisle, Pa.
