Garnet Ninth at CC Championships
Junior Sarah Hobbs paced the Garnet with two silver medals and Kavita Hardy '08 earned a bronze as Swarthmore placed ninth at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Dickinson College.
Hobbs placed second in the 5,000 meter run in a school record time of 18:01.76 and she also earned a silver medal in the 3,000 crossing the finish line in 10:24.38.
Hardy earned a bronze medal with a third place finish in the 800 in 2:24.66. Classmate Rebecca Burrow placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet 1 inch and also earned seventh place in the pole vault clearing 8 feet 6.25 inches.
The 4x400 relay team of Hardy, Melina Healey '07, Nicole Oberfoell '07 and Jessica Zagory '05 finished in eighth place in a time of 4:34.06.
