Faculty, researchers, and students are using and generating increasing amounts of data. Determining where to store such data in a post-Google world can be challenging. And, storage space is not the only issue: data may have other requirements, such as a need to be stored securely, or perhaps must be accessible to outside collaborators, or may even need certain performance characteristics, etc. When considering where to put data, it is important to answer several initial questions to ensure that the ultimate plan is appropriate.
ITS has developed a data intake form for this purpose. If you have data and would like to discuss options such as where to house it, please fill it out!
Sorting out all options for storing data, using it efficiently, making it accessible, archiving it, and so forth can be complex. We hope this form makes the process of beginning those conversations easier.
